Bengt Jonsson, PhD, is Professor in Health Economics, Stockholm School of Economics, and director Center for Health Economics . He holds a BA in Economics, Statistics and Political Science, and a Ph.D in Economics. He was a lecturer in Economics at University of Lund 1969-1982 and professor in Health Economics at University of Linkoping 1982-1991He was a member of the board of the National Social Insurance Board 1992-94, SBU the Swedish Board for technology Assessment in Health Care 1990-2003, and is currently a member of the board for the Karolinska University Hospital. He was chairman of the Expert Group to the Committee on Funding and Organisation of Health Services and Medical Care in Sweden (HSU 2000). He is member of the Editorial Boards for several journals including the International Journal of Research in Health Care Financing, The European Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Health Economics, The Journal of Mental Health Economics, PharmacoEconomics, and the Pharmaceutical Economics and Health Policy section of Clinical Therapeutics. Professor Jonsson has been a temporary adviser on many issues to WHO and a consultant to OECD, the World Bank and UNIDO. His extensive publications in the health field include over 300 papers, reports and book chapters. During 2004-05 he was president of iHEA, the international Health Economics Association, and is currently serving as past president.
