THE QUESTION
Formation of reference prices as a means of control or management of health funds on the cost of drugs has been established practice in many countries. This pricing mechanism comes from Europe, and now introduced or considered as an option beyond her, although it is proved that the mechanism has a negligible effect on total expenditure on medicines. Formation of reference prices may limit access of patients to the full range of available drugs, with appropriate negative effects on patient care.
