Underfunding of the healthcare system in Bulgaria affects both patients and doctors. This is the reason hundreds of young Bulgarian doctors annually to leave Bulgaria, seeking better conditions for development and realization.

Association of Research-based Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and its member companies in a joint initiative with the BPhU provided 56 scholarships totaling 144,300 BGN for young doctors undergoing specialization in different specialties or preparation of dissertation through regular education. The scholarships will be paid in 2014. Awarding of scholarships was held on November 7, 2013 in hotel "Arena di Serdica".
